NiF Productions
Films for the wild.
Nature inFocus Productions creates films that bring together the different threads of natural history, biodiversity and wildlife conservation. Founded by filmmakers with over fifteen years behind blue-chip natural history series for the BBC, National Geographic and Netflix, the studio tells India’s conservation stories at a cinematic scale — working shoulder to shoulder with forest staff, researchers, ecologists and the communities who live closest to the wild.

Project Tiger2023
Kalyan Varma · Rohit Varma · Vijay Mohan Raj · Music: Indian Ocean
The extraordinary untold story of India's audacious mission to save a global icon from extinction. As the world lost two-thirds of its wildlife, India doubled its tigers over fifty years.
The film looks beyond the familiar image of the tiger to examine the conservation framework that has sustained the species — the forests, prey, science, policy, and the often-invisible work of forest staff and local communities who most often pay the price of conservation.

Wild Tamil Nadu2025
Kalyan Varma · Arathi Krishna · Rohit Varma · Music: Ricky Kej · Narrated by Arvind Swamy
A landmark documentary that reads Tamil Nadu's wild through the ancient Tamil imagination of landscape — mountains, forests, croplands, coasts and arid zones — to tell a modern story of biodiversity, culture and belonging.
Drawing on Sangam literature and regional identity, the film places wildlife within a continuum of culture and ecology, journeying from marine ecosystems to hill forests to capture animal behaviour never filmed before.

The Real Jungle Book2023
Jeremy Hogarth · Kalyan Varma
Filmed entirely on location in India, this film follows the living characters Rudyard Kipling described in his 1894 stories — wolves hunting the arid flatlands, tigers prowling shrinking forests, and elephants treading hereditary trails.
It is one of very few international productions to give the Indian wolf centre stage, rather than focusing solely on India's more celebrated mammals.

The Last Frontier2024
Rohit Varma · Sara · Narrated by Shabana Azmi · Music: Amit Kilam (Indian Ocean)
An ode to the magical mangroves — released on the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, the film humanises these resilient coastal forests, giving them a voice through veteran actor Shabana Azmi's narration.
The mangroves make up the last barrier between the sea and land: the film traces what stands to be lost as this fragile frontier disappears to construction and coastal development, and why protecting it protects the communities living alongside it.
